Interview with Dayne Gearner

  • Mood:

G'morning.

Let's get to know Moonlit's December releasing author, Dayne Gearner.

Why do you write romance novels?

I write romance novels because romance is a genre I read. I write mystery novels--ALSO because it is a genre I read. I enjoy creating characters and making them come alive. It's very fulfilling to create a plot, create the characters and make them all come together in a completed novel. Plus, the happy endings don't hurt! <g>

What love song would you pick to be the "Theme Love Song" for your releasing novel/novella?

Hmmm...a love song. Well, since I'm a songwriter, I'd have to say that I'd write something for these characters.

Trust in your heart

and you will find

the one who loves you

you'll see the signs

So take the chance

at love's new start

cause fate knows best

trust in your heart

Which came first: the story or the characters for your releasing novel/novella?

Actually--neither. There is a story in the novel, where the sheriff is getting into bed, and forgets that she has rocks and keys and wallets in her pockets. I thought the scene was funny, and I developed that scene, and wrote a novel that would accommodate that scene.

Of the writing process, what do you enjoy most?

The brainstorming. I love the process of starting with a blank page (figuratively), and developing the 10 or 12 "bullet points" that will happen in the story. If I have those, then the book gets written. If I leave it as some vague "...oh, I'll fill in something there", then the book doesn't get written.
